FAQ for Cloud 9 Indie Book Award
- Who can enter?
Authors and / or publishers who produce independent books. Indie books are published by independently owned and operated publishers. This may be you, the individual, as publisher or a small press publisher. The Cloud 9 Indie Book Award brings recognition to hundreds of fine independent and self-published titles.
- What publication years are allowed?
January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2017
- May I submit if one of the Big Five published my book?
No. These awards are for independently published or small-press published books.
- How much does it cost to submit?
One entry before November 26, 2017 is $95. If you want to enter additional categories for the same title, the fee is $75 per additional category. If one entry is sent after November 26, 2017 the fee is $110. If you want to submit to more categories for the same title, there is an added fee of $95 per category. - What is the deadline to submit?
Early bird deadline is postmarked November 26, 2017. The final deadline is December 31, 2017 and must be postmarked by Midnight.
- What do I get if I win in any category?
Worldwide awareness for all the 220 finalists’ titles during the internet vote to pick the top 3 winners per category,
Gold winners will be in a 2-page advertising spread in Publishers Weekly Magazine in September 2018,
Inclusion and recognition on Readers Cloud 9 book marketing website and newsletter,
An award certificate and stickers for posting to your book cover,

- How are books judged?
You can find the JUDGES SCORING GUIDELINES at this link. Books are screened by an award committee of publishing professionals who are publishers, designers, marketers, editors, and writers.
- How will I know what the judges think of my book?
Enclose an SASE with your submission and we will send you the judges’ comments. If you would like to take a look at the JUDGES SCORING SHEETS to get a feel for how the entries will be scored, you can go to this link to find them for the various genre / categories.
